Meet the students at the University of Southern California behind Southern California’s premier all-female (trans and non-binary inclusive) hackathon!

The Finances & Sponsorship team — Meet Ari, Stacey, Ilona, Emily and Melanie (Erica and Kourtney not pictured)

The finances & sponsorship team works to get various companies involved in financially supporting AthenaHacks. They communicate with these sponsors to determine what level of support and which benefits function best for each company, creating a detailed yearly budget and utilizing these funds to run our yearly event. They also work closely with USC Viterbi to manage sponsor donations and ensure everything is running smoothly!

The Marketing & Outreach team — Meet Kelly, Anushka, Lindsay, Charmaine, Krishna, and Catherine (not pictured)

The marketing & outreach team publicizes the event on social media, through email, and in-person at various recruiting and publicity events on campus. They work with ambassadors and representatives at other colleges, community colleges, and high schools to spread the word about AthenaHacks. It’s important for them to reach individuals from all different backgrounds and walks of life so everyone has the opportunity to hear about and attend AthenaHacks.

The Logistics team — Meet Sophie, Marsela, and Elizabeth

The logistics team is responsible for all the important logistics that keep AthenaHacks running smoothly. One of their biggest responsibilities is securing a venue and the ensuring it has everything necessary to hold 500+ people for a whole weekend. They also manage the application process to attend AthenaHacks as a hacker, mentor, or volunteer and other important aspects such as fire safety and transportation to/from the hackathon for all attendees.

The Programs team — Meet Stephanie, Ying, Aliya, and Jillian

The programs team works hard all year to make AthenaHacks an enjoyable and educational experience for everyone. They organize all the speakers (including keynote!), workshops, and fireside chats throughout the event. Their goal is to provide a variety of experiences so every person can find something they’re interested in. Additionally, they run the opening and closing ceremonies during the hackathon. They also work closely with our sponsors to define the prize categories for the hackathon.
